CBS Colorado is searching for someone enthusiastic about the future of TV news and digital consumption. This is a role that combines the skills of an assignment editor and a digital content producer. The ideal person will help plan, produce, and develop stories across streaming, digital, social, and broadcast platforms. This is a great opportunity to be in a newsroom that not only values breaking news but puts a premium on context, depth, and storytelling.

Hiring Salary Range: $$65,000 - 68,000.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Responsibilities:
- Help lead and communicate coverage during breaking news, with the focus on accuracy, urgency, and balance
- Monitor law enforcement, fire, and official social media communications, and make “beat-checks” to determine story coverage
- Understand and support our brand of Covering Colorado First, which requires identifying stories that impact the community
- Create and edit engaging and creative content for digital platforms
- Guide newsroom logistics and provide editorial support for MSJs, producers, and photojournalists
- Edit reporter content for accuracy, grammar, AP style, digital best practices, fairness, and ethical considerations
- Identify and generate stories that will create a buzz
- Available to work nights, weekends, and early mornings
- 3-5 years of journalism experience in a newsroom,
- Excellent writing skills, with the ability to produce accurate and compelling content quickly
- Knowledge of online content management systems
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or equivalent experience
