Senior Staff Accountant — High-impact role

Own core accounting operations while partnering closely with the Director of Finance & Accounting. Ideal for a hands-on, detail-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.

What you’ll do

• Lead end-to-end, bi-weekly payroll and benefits for a multi-state workforce (100 employees).
• Oversee timesheets, train new hires on payroll systems, and prepare payroll JEs; reconcile payroll-related accounts.
• Manage 403(b) contributions and serve as finance lead for the 403(b) plan audit.
• Ensure timely payroll tax filings; resolve federal, state, and local compliance issues.
• Administer workers’ comp policies and annual audits.
• Perform full-cycle AP: review/validate invoices and check requests, ensure proper documentation/coding, and follow up on outstanding items.
• Process credit memos, voided checks, vendor/staff inquiries, and corporate cards; upload to the accounting system.
• Review/process employee expenses, reimbursements, cash advances; follow up on unsubmitted reports.
• Prepare month-end accruals, prepaid reconciliations, and internal cost transfers (IT, Office Services, PD, etc.).
• Prepare and submit 1099s; support month-end close and financial audits.
• Maintain and improve internal controls; streamline processes for accuracy and speed.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s in Accounting (or related field).
• 5 years of payroll processing experience (100 employees).
• 2 years in a nonprofit accounting department (AP, GL entries, reconciliations, month-end close).
• 1 year with Sage Intacct; Concur a plus.
• Advanced Excel; strong Word/Outlook.
• Meticulous, self-directed, and deadline-oriented; strong organization and communication skills.
