What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dining Room Technician St. Vincent de Paul (PT) position at Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge?
This position is the backbone of our kitchen and dining room services. It provides a variety of important food preparation, food storage and stock management, dining room set-up, kitchen and dining room cleaning. This person welcomes, serves and successfully interacts with a wide variety of dining room donors, guests, community members and St. Vincent de Paul staff. The specific assignments vary depending on the needs of the day.
The personnel of the Kitchen/Dining Room Program of St. Vincent de Paul of Baton Rouge collaborate with all St. Vincent de Paul staff by embracing all works of charity and justice. All staff collaborate with other people of good will relieving need and addressing its causes, making no distinction in those served, because in them St. Vincent de Paul sees the face of Christ. All personnel of the Shelter/Residential Programs participate actively in the homeless Continuum of Care to coordinate services, maximize guest benefit, and minimize duplication of effort.
I. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A. Education, Experience & Certifications:
High School Diploma is required.
Must be able to safely operate standard commercial kitchen equipment
B. Other Qualifications:
Ability to work cooperatively with St. Vincent de Paul staff and Dining Room and homeless guests to
accomplish mission goals
C. Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to sit and drive a car, van, or small bus. Must be able to sit for
long periods while working on a computer, or talking with guests and community members. Must be able to
move around buildings and in the community. Must be able to stoop, lift, and bend infrequently during the
day

II. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
- Backup and support the Brown Bag food preparation
- Accept food deliveries and store items into proper storage areas, utilizing standard processes and procedures
- Ensure all trash is taken out and placed in dumpsters to maintain cleanliness and safety
- Maintain cleanliness of the dining room during meal service
- Prepare dining room before and after meal is served to maintain cleanliness and safety
- Collaborate with other SVDP staff for smooth operation of the overall program
- Flexibility of responsibilities and willingness to take on task as assigned
