Key Responsibilities
Academic Support
- Guide students in course selection, scheduling, and academic planning to ensure graduation requirements and post-secondary goals are met.
- Monitor academic progress and collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to support student success.
- Maintain accurate student records, update transcripts, and ensure timely submission to colleges, universities, and scholarship programs.
- Update and maintain the Student Transcript System (STS) and other school data systems.
- Assist students with college, vocational, and career exploration in alignment with their interests, talents, and Catholic values.
- Support students with the college application process, including essays, recommendation letters, transcript submissions, and financial aid resources.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding college and career planning timelines, opportunities, and requirements.
- Organize and oversee annual college and career fairs, workshops, and informational sessions.
- Provide confidential, short-term counseling and support for students facing personal, social, or emotional challenges.
- Facilitate referrals to outside counseling or support services when appropriate.
- Foster an inclusive, safe, and respectful school climate consistent with Catholic teaching.
- Support the spiritual development of students, encouraging them to integrate faith into decision-making and personal growth.
- Model Catholic values in interactions with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Collaborate with campus ministry, teachers, and administrators to ensure holistic student formation.
- Master’s degree in School Counseling, Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
- State certification/licensure in School Counseling (or eligibility for certification).
- Experience in high school counseling preferred.
- Practicing Catholic in good standing strongly preferred; must be supportive of the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, parents, and the wider school community.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all students.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings/weekends for parent meetings or school events.
