DSPs must have a high school diploma or GED. The person is required to possess a valid New York State driver's license. Also, experience and/or desire to work with a developmentally disabled population. Ability to obtain or already have Certifications in approved OPWDD SCIP, AMAP training and First Aid/CPR. We will train if you do not have SCIP, AMAP or CPR. All eligible applicants will be processed through a background screening process.
Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide supervision and ensure safety and well-being of the person(s) assigned to them. They must have the individual's best interest in mind and focus on a person centered approach. They assist the individual(s) with activities of daily living, and access the community with the individual. A DSP will help individuals with disabilities lead meaningful lives.
