What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director of Programs position at Catholic Charities of Staten Island?
Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psych, Social, or in a related Social Services Field; 5 years’ experience in working with Developmentally Disabled. On – call 24/7 Must have own transportation. Experience working in OPWDD.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
- Provides overall direction, guidance and supervision to Residential Managers, Nurses, Behavioral Intervention Specialists (BIS) for the residential programs.
- Conducts weekly clinical/staff meetings with assigned managers and clinical team.
- Participate in interviews, evaluates, orients, trains, disciplines and recommends hiring and terminating of subordinates
- Evaluate house managers to ensure that assigned responsibilities are met
- Ensures program actions are conducted in a manner that prevents abuse.
- Maintain training records for assigned sites, etc.
- Responds to program and work related questions, problems and complaints from staff, and families.
- Ensures that assigned sites are kept clean, neat, healthy and safe.
- In conjunction with the Director of Programs develops policies and procedures for assigned sites.
- Prepares various concise written reports as assigned.
- Develops, secures approval of and monitors budget for assigned sites.
- Conduct Fire Drills as required.
- Conduct unannounced site visits and generate a written report.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
· Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Excellent organizational skills
· High level of interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with coworkers, employees, Individuals, families, regulatory agencies, and other outside contacts.
· Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.
· Proficiency in the use of personal computers, appropriate software and Email system
· Excellent analytical ability and able to multi- task
· Probationary Period: 6 months
