About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Registered Nurse to serve as House Supervisor at a 25-bed Critical Access / Level III Trauma Center and Teaching Hospital in the stunning Columbia River Gorge community of Hood River, OR. In this role, you will serve as the clinical expert and organizational escalation point for the entire facility, overseeing nursing care delivery across all units, managing staffing models, and responding to a wide variety of clinical needs and emergencies. You will work in a tight-knit, well-supported environment with an ED physician in house at all times, on-call pharmacy support overnight, and Nurse Managers available during day shifts. This is a high-impact leadership role ideal for seasoned travel nurses with ED or ICU backgrounds who thrive in dynamic, critical access settings.
Requirements
- Active Oregon RN license
- Minimum 5 years of RN experience required
- ED or ICU experience required
- Prior House Supervisor experience strongly preferred
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- PALS highly preferred (candidates without PALS may be considered but are not ideal)
- NRP preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Travel experience required
- Must have a personal vehicle for this assignment
- Charge nurse experience preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Facility-wide nursing supervision and bed management (new admissions, post-procedure, post-surgery, transfers)
- Centralized and decentralized staffing model management
- Code management, rapid response, crisis intervention, and de-escalation
- Narcotic diversion monitoring and management
- Incident reporting, root cause analysis, and sentinel event monitoring
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements: DPH, TJC, OSHA
- Comfortable mixing antibiotics and basic pressors not available via premix
- Voluntary/involuntary commitment processes and AMA discharge documentation
- Risk management, infection control, and isolation procedures
- Clinical expertise across ED, ICU, Med/Surg Tele, and Surgical Services
- Disaster management — internal and external
- Experience with productivity standards and staffing requirements preferred

- Patient Population: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
- Patient Diagnoses: CHF, NSTEMI, Pneumonia, Total Joint Replacements, Sepsis, Overdose, General Surgery, Oncology, Geriatric Services
- Services Offered: General Surgery, Orthopedics, OB/GYN (~350 births/year), ENT, Podiatry, Wound Care, Endoscopy (No cath lab, no IR, no neurosurgery)
- Ratios: 1:4 Days | 1:4 Nights | 1:4 Weekends
- Weekend Coverage: Typically every 3rd weekend; may be every other depending on staffing needs
- On Call: Not required
- Float: Yes, per unit needs across Providence Health & Services network
- Pre-Approved Time Off: 1 request
- Orientation: 48 hours

Float Network Note
As a Providence Health & Services traveler, you may be asked to float to other facilities within the PH&S network including Milwaukie, Newberg, Portland, Willamette Falls, Seaside, and Saint Vincent based on your skill set and facility needs.
Travelers floated to Seaside receive an additional $5/hr incentive plus IRS mileage reimbursement. Consecutive Seaside shifts include hotel accommodations.
Travel Contract Details
