Benefits Assistant

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

• Enroll new hires in benefits plan during orientation.
• Follow up after 90 days with new hires as they become eligible for insurance and ensure all required paperwork to accept/decline insurance is completed and mailed to the corporate office.
• Initiates and tracks FMLA, Personal LOA’s, and Short-Term Disability.
• Assists employees/ prospective employees with benefits questions.
• Receives DR’s Notes and other documentation(s) pertaining to absences and LOA’s and files them under HIPAA guidelines.
• Must occasionally act as a liaison between employees and service providers.
• Helps cover for the receptionist during breaks.
• Helps plan and organize various employee events.
• Performing other job duties as needed. 

 REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have 1 year of experience in benefits administration and/or analysis of employee benefit plans and compensation.
• Excellent computer skills including electronic mail, data entry.
• Good organizational skills and follow-through.
• Ability to work under stressful situations, deadlines, and sometimes conflicting timelines.
• Bilingual preferred. 

 Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• An associate degree in a related field is preferred.
