JOB TITLE: Production Supervisor

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

DIVISION/DEPARTMENT: Mid-State / Die Cast

DATE DEVELOPED: 03/2023

REPORTS TO:  Operations Manager

POSITION SCOPE:


The Production Supervisor is responsible for assigning cast and secondary resources based on published schedules and priorities. Is responsible for overall conformance to all processes including die casting, secondary, and metal standards.  Monitors and continuously works to improve daily production outputs in accordance to targeted efficiencies. Leads, motivates, and trains a team of supervisors and production associates, promoting quality and safety standards. Works to continuously improve all outputs related to die casting and secondary production. Ensures the health and safety of all associates.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
POSITION RELATED:

 

  • Oversees the production process to ensure that it runs smoothly and efficiently to meet production schedules. This includes supervision of die cast and/or secondary operations and assist with melt as needed.
  • Thoroughly understands and drives standardized work instructions and procedures, as well as completing leadership standard work for daily activities.
  • Monitors production performance standards and aligns the organization to meet or exceed these standards.
  • Leads and participates in problem solving techniques related to die casting, secondary equipment, and general operating needs.
  • Assists with Manufacturing Process and Layer Processed Audits.
  • Ensures accurate data entry and tracking in production software and quality systems.
  • Participates in cross-functional team efforts to resolve production issues, improve scrap, and reduce overtime.
  • Achieve and maintains efficiency levels of 100 to standard on all operations.
  • Models Companies Core Values.
  • Effectively communicates with associates and coordinates with other shifts to ensure seamless production operations and addresses any issues in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all company employment policies, procedures/processes, and programs. Performs duties in compliance quality, as well as safety policies, procedures/processes, and programs.
  • Regularly reports for work on time with a desire to perform to the best of your abilities.
  • Works required schedule based on business demands.
  • Has the ability to work in other classifications or departments as needed.  

 

 

ASSOCIATE RELATED:
 

  • Builds positive relationships and works cooperatively with associates in a team environment.
  • Leads, motivates, and manages production personnel to achieve maximum productivity by instructing, directing, and assisting associates in duties, best practices, quality standards, procedures, policies, rules and regulations and ensuring adherence to standard work.
  • Strives for continuous associate coaching on various job techniques. Maintains discipline and takes corrective action as necessary.
  • Addresses associates’ issues or concerns.
  • Assists with interviews and collaborates in the hiring, promotion, termination, and layoff process of personnel.
  • Daily reviews of associates time records and on-time final weekly approvals.
  • Ensures production associates are trained on new processes and equipment.
  • Ensures timely completion of performance reviews and meet supervisor scorecard metrics.

 

SAFETY RELATED:

  • Promotes and maintains clean and orderly departments consistent with 5s, safety, and work rules and regulations.
  • Ensures compliance to safety rules, promotes, and sustains a high standard of safety, completes timely incident investigation and notification to management and human resources.
  • Works safely around and/or while operating heaving equipment or manufacturing machinery.

 

Other duties are assigned from time-to-time.

CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, and WORK EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Knowledge of casting, secondary, melting and safety regulations techniques.
  • College degree and/or five years related supervisory experience.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral & written.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Forklift License
  • Lockout/Tagout
  • Crane License

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possess good physical stamina and coordination. Specific physical requirements of the position include the ability to continuously and repetitively:
    • Walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
    • Read standardized work instructions, operate machines and tools, and perform quality inspections.
    • Promptly detect and respond to visual and auditory safety instructions, alarms, and signals.
    • Wear personal protective equipment, for example: safety glasses, gloves, hats, ear plugs, and steel-toed safety shoes.
    • Work in a loud manufacturing environment that is not climate controlled (conditions can be hot or cold).
    • Ability to see clearly at close and distance ranges, distinguish colors, maintain peripheral vision, perceive depth, and adjust focus as necessary.
  • Frequently and repetitively:
    • Lift or carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds and periodically care or lift materials weighing up to 50lbs.
    • Bend to perform work.
    • Use hand positioning to grip/grasp parts and a wide range of power and vibrating tools or other equipment.
  • Occasionally
    • Sit at desk and computer (up to 10%).
    • Lift, twist, reach above shoulders, squat, crawl, kneel, drive, and climb (including ladders and lifts) to perform work.
  • Recognizes potential exposure to environmental, mechanical, chemical, electrical, and explosive hazards.
