Position Summary
The Director of Human Resources provides both strategic leadership and hands-on execution of the company’s human resource strategy. This role serves as a key business partner to the executive leadership team, aligning people strategies with organizational goals to drive performance, growth, and a high-engagement culture.
This leader will build on a strong HR foundation while elevating systems, processes, and organizational capability in support of continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, integrating HR into business strategy and decision-making
- Lead talent management and succession planning processes to build leadership bench strength
- Oversee talent acquisition and retention strategies, including workforce pipeline development
- Champion learning and development programs that support organizational capability
- Reinforce a culture of continuous improvement aligned with lean manufacturing principles
Functional HR Leadership
- Lead employee engagement and communication initiatives using data-driven insights
- Design, manage, and optimize benefits and wellness programs
- Drive safety initiatives and continuously strengthen safety culture
- Develop and execute HR business plans, policies, and compliance practices
- Own HRIS strategy, including system optimization, reporting, and data integrity
- Oversee compensation structures and performance management systems
- Lead, coach, and develop the HR team
- Partner with operations on employee relations and workforce challenges
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws (including OSHA/MIOSHA, EEO, ERISA, and wage and hour regulations)

Work Environment & Travel
- Based in the greater Grand Rapids, Michigan area
- Regular travel required to High Point, North Carolina facility
- Fast-paced, growth-oriented manufacturing environment
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of progressive HR leadership experience
- Experience in a multi-site manufacturing environment strongly preferred
- Demonstrated expertise across core HR disciplines, including:
- Talent management and succession planning
- Workforce planning and talent acquisition
- Compensation, benefits, and rewards
- Organizational development
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Advanced degree or HR certification preferred
