Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Sterilization Technician/DAI to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of infection control and sterilization protocols to ensure patient safety and smooth clinic operations. This position offers an opportunity to work within a professional healthcare environment, supporting various dental procedures and assisting the clinical team with essential sterilization tasks.
Duties
- Properly clean, disinfect, and sterilize dental instruments using autoclaves and other sterilization equipment in accordance with OSHA and CDC guidelines.
- Prepare instrument trays for various dental procedures, ensuring all necessary tools are available and properly sterilized.
- Maintain detailed logs of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and inventory levels.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of treatment rooms, ensuring all surfaces and equipment meet infection control standards.
- Support clinical staff by helping to take necessary x-rays.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and medical records management.
- Monitor and manage inventory of sterilization supplies.
- Adhere to aseptic techniques and maintain a sterile environment during all procedures.
- Collaborate with dental team members on infection control practices, including knowledge of anatomy, dental terminology, and dental imaging protocols.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control procedures, aseptic techniques, and sterilization equipment operation.
- Familiarity with Dentrix, is preferred but not required .
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to medical documentation and patient privacy.
- Basic knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
- Experience with dental assisting tasks such as chairside assisting, vital signs measurement, X-ray procedures, or pediatric dentistry is a plus.
- Ability to follow detailed protocols for infection control and sterilization processes.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in recordkeeping and inventory management.
