Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Sterilization Technician to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of infection control and sterilization protocols to ensure a safe and efficient environment for both patients and staff. This position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic dental team, supporting various clinical functions and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Prior experience in dental assisting, infection control, or medical documentation is preferred, along with familiarity with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft, Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, medical terminology, and anatomy will be advantageous but not required.. The Sterilization Technician will be integral in upholding the clinic’s commitment to patient safety and quality care.
Responsibilities
- Properly sterilize and disinfect dental instruments using autoclaves and other sterilization equipment following established protocols.
- Prepare sterilized instruments for clinical procedures, ensuring all items are correctly organized and accessible for dental staff.
- Maintain detailed records of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and inventory management in compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
- Assist with infection control procedures, including handling biohazard waste and maintaining a sterile environment in treatment areas.
- Support dental team members by ensuring all necessary supplies are available for procedures, including managing inventory levels of sterilized instruments.
- Adhere to aseptic techniques during instrument processing to prevent cross-contamination.
- Assist with general clinic sanitation duties as needed to uphold a clean and safe environment.
- Stay current with infection control guidelines, updates in dental terminology, and advancements in sterilization technology.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic or medical environment is preferred; familiarity with dental assisting roles such as chairside assisting or medical imaging is advantageous.
- Knowledge of dental software systems including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic, or similar EMR platforms.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and medical documentation standards.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, dental terminology, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves efficiently while maintaining detailed records of sterilization cycles.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment supporting pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, or general dentistry procedures.
- Certification or training in infection control or sterilization techniques is a plus but not mandatory. This role is essential for maintaining the safety standards of our practice while supporting the overall efficiency of clinical operations. Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
