PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY
The Volunteer Program and Event Coordinator (VPEC) is responsible for managing the blood center’s volunteer program, event coordination, and day-of execution. This position recruits, onboards, schedules, and oversees volunteers who support Carter BloodCare’s (CBC) mission through community outreach, brand promotion, donor recognition events, and operational support. The VPEC serves as the primary point of contact for volunteers, cultivating a positive experience that fosters engagement, retention, and alignment with organizational goals. This position demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to excellence in customer service, relationship retention and collaboration.
The VPEC exemplifies and champions CBC Core Values and Code of Conduct, and adheres to CBC policies and applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). To support ongoing development and organizational goals, the VPEC is required to attend meetings and training sessions, as assigned. A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record (as specified in the current Vehicle Safety Loss Control Guidelines) are required. Periodic travel (30%) between assigned work areas to support other locations/projects in Texoma, Central, East and North Texas is required.
This position works on a wide range of matters where strict confidentiality is expected, and professional appearance and attendance are essential. Exempt employees are expected to maintain availability beyond standard business hours when business needs arise.
Regular full-time attendance is required during normal working hours.
Qualifications:EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree in nonprofit management, event planning, communications, or related field, or the equivalent of 4 years of related experience
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 2 years supervising and coordinating volunteers
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in community outreach and engagement
- Experience recruiting and training volunteers, preferred
- Nonprofit experience, preferred
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- High-level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; Experience with volunteer management software
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking; Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse groups of volunteers and stakeholders
- Proven organizational, time and project management skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong problem-solving skills, flexibility, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of best practices in volunteer recruitment, management, and retention
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team; Takes initiative in making decisions
