Crane Operator Fabrication

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Crane Operator, on 1st shift at our Mt. Airy, NC manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for operating overhead cranes and coordinating the movement of foam slabs as required by production demands.

Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. The successful candidate will be expected to be able to operate the overhead cranes. Ongoing communication with department manager and employees. Major challenges include adding slabs to the slitters and chop saw, clearing floor space for daily prime foam production and adding slabs to the block line.

Your additional responsibilities as Crane Operator will include:

• Read daily crane schedule to determine space required to stage finished buns for the day's pour
• Create the necessary clean space in the warehouse to properly stage slabs of foam
• Must use time efficiently to load multiple slitters and remove foam without causing damage to the foam using an overhead crane
• Back-stacks foam according to Carpenter Company rules and stacks slabs in compliance with Carpenter Company Stacking Policy
• Maintain frequent communication with the cut off saw operator to maintain a constant supply feeding the line
• Inspect cranes daily and maintain the inspection log
• Maintain value of order where needed
• Other duties assigned by Lead, Supervisor, or Manager

Skills / Requirements

• High school or GED
• Prior experience as a machine operator
• Inhouse license is required for crane operation
• Follow company rules and policies as outlined in the employee handbook
• Maintain acceptable attendance
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area

Pay rate: $17.91 to $18.12

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm
