About the RoleSeeking a mid‐level PLC & SCADA Programmer to join our growing team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‐on automation work, problem‐solving, and traveling across the state to support a wide range of municipal clients. You’ll work primarily with AutomationDirect PLCs and VTScada systems, with opportunities to work on other platforms as needed.This role includes statewide travel and 3-4 overnight trips per month.Key Responsibilities· Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC systems (primarily AutomationDirect; exposure to other brands a plus)· Develop, configure, and support SCADA systems using VTScada· Perform on‐site system commissioning, testing, and startup· Diagnose and resolve automation, controls, and networking issues· Collaborate with customers to understand system requirements and provide technical support· Document system changes, updates, and project details· Travel to customer sites across North Carolina (with overnight stays as needed)Required Qualifications· 3–5 years of experience in PLC programming, controls, or industrial automation· Hands‐on experience with AutomationDirect PLCs or similar platforms· Experience with SCADA/HMI development (VTScada preferred)· Solid understanding of industrial networking and basic IT environments· Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings· Strong troubleshooting and problem‐solving skills· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel statewidePreferred Qualifications· Experience with additional PLC platforms (Allen‐Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, etc.)· Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet/IP, etc.)· Basic understanding of servers, networking hardware, and Windows environments· Field service or commissioning experienceCompany DescriptionCarolina Technical Services, Inc.
