POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for leading and managing all maintenance operations within the manufacturing operation to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable production.  Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs, equipment reliability, utilities, maintenance personnel, and continuous improvement initiatives to minimize downtime and support production goals. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
               
  • Plan, develop, establish, and oversee interpretation and implementation of policies, procedures, and objectives for the maintenance department of the Cheraw plant.
  • Serve as a change agent to transition and maintain the facility from reactive repairs to proactive.
  • Champion and support Focused Management Teams in the implementation of core TPM pillars.
  • Establish and maintain Maintenance KPI’s and report progress toward achieving TPM objectives to improve machine availability/OEE.    
  • Lead and supervise a team including maintenance supervisor(s), scheduler/planner, spare parts specialist, reliability engineer, and project engineer.
  • Ensure maintenance schedules are being maintained to drive quality, efficiency, safety, service and cost performance. 
  • Manage and oversee the maintenance department budget, including labor, parts, and capital projects within established thresholds.
  • Develop and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs for manufacturing and packaging equipment.
  • Ensure timely troubleshooting and repair of production equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain equipment including but not limited to: blow molders, fillers and cappers, conveyors, labelers, palletizers, air compressors, boilers. , chillers, water treatment systems, syrup and blending systems.
  • Manage resources to meet demands of maintenance and production plans.
  • Manage maintenance inventory, spare parts, and vendor relationships.
  • Support installation, startup, and commissioning of new equipment and facility upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and documentation within CMMS systems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for equipment failures.
  • Monitor equipment performance and implement reliability improvements. 
  • Train and develop maintenance staff on technical skills, safety practices, and company procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, waste reduction, and productivity. 
  • Ensure facility utilities and infrastructure are properly maintained
  • Respond to emergency maintenance situations as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, food safety, GMP/HACCP, and company safety standards.
  • Communicate with plant senior management team to make them aware of any equipment or downtime concerns. 
  • Actively support and participate in industry and community associations and organizations. 
  • Performs additional duties as required. 


REQUIREMENTS
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred but comparable skills and technical experience or certification (e.g. HVAC, PLC, Electrical) also considered. 
  • Minimum of 7 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Beverage, food manufacturing, or high-speed experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC systems.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing equipment and processes (filling, packaging, sanitation, etc.).
  • Prior hands-on experience with high-speed bottling and canning equipment (fillers, conveyors, packers, palletizers, blow molds, labelers, etc.) preferred.
  • Strong planning, organizational and documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Office. 
  • Ability to work across shifts and support a 24/7 operation as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
 
  • Must be physically and mentally able to successfully perform the essential elements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.  
  • The ability to hear, talk, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds. Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. 
  • Vision requirements to do this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. 
  • Must be able to use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving, and manipulating materials and parts.
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 40 pounds on a periodic basis.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of various types of materials and parts.
  • This position requires walking or standing most of the time during the shift.  Must be able to climb onto and off of machinery and forklift throughout the shift (8-10 hours per day).
  • Bending and stooping is routine during the work shift.
  • Some travel may be required.
