Manufacturing Controls Technician - 2nd Shift

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze, maintain and repair, as needed and required, all facility equipment.
- Perform all applicable maintenance duties, including but not limited to mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and inspection of all facility equipment.
- Assemble, install, replace, modify, adjust and maintain all facility equipment as needed.
- Perform and complete all Carolina Canners preventative and reactive maintenance programs.
- Perform preventative maintenance on PLC systems.
- Support repairs and installations for other advanced production/manufacturing equipment.
- Diagnose equipment malfunctions and make more complicated repairs and adjustments as needed.
- Upgrade production lines with new/upgraded and/or technology.
- Direct activities of outside contractors.
- Analyze PLC programs and determine failure mode.
- Determine components needed, install and commission electrical controls systems based on project scope and deadlines.
- Program complex electronic controls such as PLCs, VFDs, Servos and Robots.
- Maintain knowledge of processes and equipment.
- Maintain records of service cycles and other maintenance activities conducted.
- Perform breakdown analysis.
- Efficiently manage time and complete all tasks assigned by supervisor.
- Effectively communicate with supervisors and co-employees concerning all aspects of the maintenance function.
- Ensure that the product and/or supplies are being handled in a sanitary method consistent with GMP’s and properly packaged.
- Maintain clean work area through good housekeeping practices.
- Work well with others in a team-orientated atmosphere.
- Other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- 18 years or older.
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Vocational school graduate preferred but comparable skills and experience also considered.
- 4 years of general maintenance and repair experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience. and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
- Ability to operate a forklift (if position requires).
- Must be able to read, write, and perform basic math.
- Must possess thorough understanding of all production and facility equipment.
- Must possess general knowledge of machines and tools, including designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
- General mechanical and electrical aptitude and knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
- Experience with basic electrical systems (e.g., starters, fuses, contacts, relays).
- Experience with electrical systems (installation, frequency drive, troubleshooting).
- Experience with electronics (e.g., level probes, flow meters, drives/VFDs, etc.).
- Experience with PLC (e.g., industrial maintenance, computer control systems, etc.).
- Experience with product manuals (e.g., reading and applying knowledge to make repairs).
- Experience with schematics (e.g., electrical blueprints with switches, starters, maps, relays).
- Experience with troubleshooting (e.g., diagnostics, problem solving, etc.).
ABILITIES

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must be physically and mentally able to successfully perform the essential elements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- The ability to hear, talk, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.
- Vision requirements to do this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving, and manipulating materials and parts.
- Must be able to safely lift up to 50 pounds on a periodic basis.
- Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of various types of materials and parts.
- Must be able to climb onto and off of machinery throughout the shift (8-10 hours per day).
- Bending and stooping is routine during the work shift.
- Must be able to use and handle all hand and electrical repair and testing tools and equipment.
