Upper School Spanish Teacher

Spanish Teacher Responsibilities:

• Teach several sections of Spanish each semester for middle or upper school students.
• Develop student-centered curricula that aligns with learning objectives and student needs.
• Teach Spanish language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through a variety of instructional methods.
• Create opportunities for students to practice conversational Spanish and improve pronunciation and comprehension.
• Organizing events where students can showcase their Spanish language skills.
• Communicate with parents regarding student progress and behavior.
• Participate in regular professional development activities to stay current with best practices and innovation in language education.
• Serve as an advisor for a group of students, offering support, mentorship, and guidance to help them thrive academically and personally.

Spanish Teacher Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Linguistics, Education, or related required. Master's degree preferred.
• Proven written and verbal proficiency in Spanish.
• At least 3-5 years of previous K-12 teaching experience.
• Ability to meet the learning needs of students through differentiated instruction.
• Familiarity with technologies used for delivering and grading assignments, lesson design, lesson implementation, and recording student progress.
• No teaching license or credential is required.
• Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.
• Organized, dependable, and eager to contribute to the school community.
• Willingness to assist with school sports teams and/or extracurricular activities.

Additional Desired Qualities:

• Knowledge of ACTFL standards preferred.
