Job Title: Storeroom Attendant
Location: East Peoria, IL
Job Type: Contract (Temp-to-Hire)
Shift: 3rd Shift (10:00 PM – 6:20 AM)
Training Schedule: 1st Shift (Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:20 PM for 3–4 weeks)
Position Overview
The Storeroom Attendant is responsible for managing inventory operations within a customer facility, including receiving, stocking, issuing, and maintaining accurate inventory records. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can work efficiently in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment while ensuring a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, inspect, and store incoming materials, tools, and equipment
- Verify shipments against purchase orders and report discrepancies or damages
- Accurately label, organize, and store inventory in designated locations
- Issue materials, tools, and equipment to employees and maintain transaction records
- Perform cycle counts and assist in maintaining accurate inventory levels
- Update inventory data in computerized systems and generate reports as needed
- Replenish stock through requisitions and maintain optimal inventory levels
- Deliver materials across multiple buildings using a battery-operated cart
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, including lost or misplaced items
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized storeroom environment
- Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs (with or without assistance)
- Frequent walking (up to 4.5 miles per shift) and climbing stairs (18–20 times per shift)
- Regular standing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing
- Use of ladders up to 8 feet with safety mechanisms
- Work environment includes heated warehouse in winter and non-air-conditioned conditions in summer
- Required use of steel-toe safety shoes
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 months of relevant warehouse or inventory experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred (not mandatory)
- Valid and current driver’s license required
- Forklift experience is a plus (certification provided if needed)
- Experience in loading, unloading, picking, packing, and inventory handling preferred
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn inventory management systems
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, safety guidelines, and procedure manuals
- Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios, percentages)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to work flexible or rotating shifts, including overtime if required
- Ability to pass equipment certification (e.g., forklift) if applicable
- Must be comfortable working in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn
