Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Director to enhance the quality of life for residents in our assisted living and long-term care community. The ideal candidate will have experience in senior care, dementia and Alzheimer's care, and recreational therapy, with a passion for creating engaging and meaningful activities tailored to residents' needs. Duties
- Develop, plan, and coordinate a diverse calendar of recreational activities, events, and therapeutic programs that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and physical activity.
- Facilitate engaging activities that cater to residents with memory care needs, Alzheimer’s disease, and other disabilities.
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed during activities to promote independence and comfort.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to assess individual resident needs and preferences, ensuring personalized activity plans.
- Manage scheduling of activities, volunteers, and staff to ensure smooth execution of programs.
- Provide counseling on aging issues and support residents’ emotional well-being through social work principles.
- Educate staff and family members about the benefits of recreational therapy and memory care strategies.
- Maintain accurate documentation of resident participation, progress, and feedback for continuous improvement.
- Ensure all activities comply with safety standards and health regulations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in event planning within assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care settings.
- Background in senior care, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, or memory care is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with seniors, individuals with disabilities, families, and staff.
- Knowledge of caregiving practices related to aging issues and assisting with ADLs.
- Experience in recreational therapy or working with people with disabilities enhances suitability for this role.
- Ability to manage schedules efficiently while adapting to residents’ changing needs.
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve residents’ quality of life through engaging activities.
- Relevant certifications or training in social work or aging issues counseling are advantageous but not mandatory. Pay: $23.67 - $28.51 per hour
