Carex is partnering with an insurance industry partner to hire a Data Test Engineer for a 1-year Contract to Hire opportunity. This hybrid role requires 10 days per month onsite, offering flexibility without fixed in-office days. The position plays a vital role in validating data infrastructure, user interfaces, and services to ensure quality and reliability. With a focus on data validation, this role demands attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a strong ability to develop and execute high-quality automated test cases.

What You’ll Do

• Design and develop automated data test scenarios based on system specifications
• Build test scripts using appropriate tools to ensure data accuracy and consistency
• Execute automated testing strategies across the analysis, design, implementation, and execution phases
• Brainstorm enhancements for testing procedures and data quality strategies
• Perform regression, ELT, browser, performance, stress, resiliency, and infrastructure testing
• Implement and validate data manipulation or modeling
• Investigate and document data quality defects, including detailed steps to reproduce and environment specifics
• Maintain detailed and accurate test documentation including test cases, data, and results
• Promote best practices in data testing and quality across teams
• Collaborate with Software Quality Manager, Data Engineers, Developers, Product Owners, and other key stakeholders
• Communicate clearly and transparently to address and resolve issues efficiently
• Contribute to improving testing processes and workflows
• Participate in Agile team ceremonies including Quarterly Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Reviews, and Retrospectives
• Foster a collaborative and positive team environment
• Perform additional responsibilities as requested
  
  
  

What You’ll Bring

• Proficiency in Python and AWS Glue/Lambda
• Strong command of SQL for test automation and data validation
• Hands-on experience with Git, GitHub Actions, GitLab pipelines, and Jenkins
• Background in Agile/DevOps environments with cross-functional collaboration
• Experience in front-end and back-end testing
• Familiarity with modern scripting language-based component testing
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for QA advocacy within teams
• Additional preferred experience:

• Selenium, TestNG/JUnit
• AWS QuickSight and Redshift
• Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
• Java
• OnBase, Eloquence, Salesforce
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field preferred
• Minimum 5 years of experience with automated unit and integration testing
• Proven experience in data validation testing
• At least 1 year of experience with Agile methodology; experience in the insurance industry is a plus
