This role is responsible for leading the design, configuration, support, enhancement, and optimization of SAP security applications and related technology platforms. The Senior SAP Security Application Analyst serves as a primary resource for end users and stakeholders, resolving application issues, evaluating the impact of requested changes, and driving improvements that strengthen platform performance and support business needs. This individual will also provide mentorship to junior team members, lead process improvements, and serve as a subject matter expert across assigned applications.
What You’ll Do
- Lead business systems design, configuration, upgrades, and improvements for assigned SAP security applications and related platforms.
- Independently develop, configure, test, and support low- to medium-complexity application solutions.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues within the application area, including those affecting other application teams.
- Perform impact analysis for system changes, enhancements, and support requests.
- Guide workflow design and align technical solutions with business process needs.
- Partner with stakeholders and vendor implementation teams to ensure successful delivery of system changes.
- Create, maintain, and improve system documentation, internal processes, and procedural standards.
- Support end users through issue tracking systems, status updates, training, and ongoing production support.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned applications and provide leadership in incident and problem resolution.
- Monitor SAP security risks and partner with risk owners to remediate or mitigate identified issues.
- Create and execute segregation of duties, SOX audit, and security analysis reports, including manual and background job execution.
- Analyze logs, audit results, and system patterns to troubleshoot security issues across the SAP landscape.
- Delegate and coordinate configuration or support activities across team members when needed.
- Mentor junior analysts and provide guidance on questions, problem-solving, and day-to-day support.
- Drive continuous improvement through process design, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Support occasional nights, weekends, and limited travel as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or a high school diploma/GED with 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- 5 years of experience developing, configuring, or supporting technology solutions in an application analyst or project delivery environment.
- Strong experience with SAP security and governance processes.
- Deep knowledge of SAP GRC 12, including EAM, ARA, and ARM modules.
- Experience establishing security baselines for enterprise applications.
- Hands-on experience with SAP platforms such as S/4HANA, GRC, BTP, Datasphere, SAC, MES, Cloud ALM, or IBP; SAP RISE experience is a plus.
- Experience with authorization objects, transaction codes, single/composite/derived roles, Fiori apps, and catalog creation.
- Experience supporting SAP upgrade events, including security-related activities.
- Familiarity with SOX compliance in life sciences, healthcare, or a related regulated environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, matrixed, and evolving environment.
- Ability to take ownership, manage competing priorities, and perform effectively under pressure.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
