Maintenance & Reliability Leader Needed in Portland, Oregon

We’re looking for a leader with at least 5 years of supervisory experience who can inspire teams, improve equipment performance, and create a culture of continuous improvement. You’ll guide a diverse group, including technicians, operators, contractors, and support staff, toward achieving world-class operational results.
What You’ll Do
Lead People & Build Teams
- Champion Safety, Quality, and Efficiency standards across your shift.
- Drive daily maintenance meetings, ensuring clear priorities and strong accountability.
- Recruit, develop, and mentor mechanics, technicians, and shift leaders, building the next generation of talent.
- Foster positive relationships with union partners while maintaining a collaborative workplace.
- Provide coaching, training, and the right tools so your team can succeed and grow.
Drive Equipment Reliability
- Take charge during unplanned downtime, leading quick, safe decisions to minimize repair time and capture lessons learned.
- Oversee Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs, ensuring safety and quality take top priority.
- Partner with subject matter experts to solve recurring issues and strengthen operator knowledge.
- Ensure smooth start-ups, prioritize maintenance activities, and act as the key contact for production support.
Deliver Operational Excellence
- Lead root cause analysis and implement solutions that reduce costs and boost reliability.
- Continuously refine maintenance strategies, reliability plans, and performance tracking.
- Promote lean practices while developing your team’s technical skills to support 24/7 operations.
- Ensure every team member understands and follows safety standards and compliance requirements.
What You Bring
- 3 years of direct supervision in a manufacturing/maintenance/engineering environment (required).
- Experience working in a unionized setting (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or 5 years of relevant industry experience preferred.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to balance technical problem-solving and people management.
Schedule
- 4 days on / 4 days off
- 12-hour shifts (6:00 AM–6:00 PM or 6:00 PM–6:00 AM).
