Position Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer will interact with machinists, engineers, supervisors, and managers to keep production moving while ensuring products meet company quality standards.
Responsibilities Include
- Develop, write, test (simulates), and optimize CNC programs of numeric controlled tooling machinery, by using CAD/CAM technology and methodology. Check completed programs by running simulations or tests on Vericut.
- Develop, determine, and describe the setups of the tooling machines (how to position and fix the workpiece and the tool in relation to the machine axes)
- Provide up-to-date CNC programs, posted code (manuscript), set-up documentation, and tooling information (tool list, tool offset values, etc.) for CNC machined operations
- Lead a Manufacturing team for successful execution of a product through the shop (both preparedness and in process support of shop floor execution). This includes running prove-outs on the machine floor to validate the process and get ready for production release.
- Create and approve final work instructions for development and production hardware.
- Generate estimates for new hardware and enter into the quoting system.
- Participate and or lead Design for Manufacturing meetings.
- Support production activities by getting answers to process questions and working through established processes to resolve product non-conformance issues.
- Implement of lean process improvements activities to meet schedule and cost targets.
- A bachelors degree in mechanical, manufacturing engineering, or associates degree with direct experience is required.
- 3 or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment involving heavy CNC machining/programming. 10 or more years of Manufacturing Experience may be substituted for degree.
- Manufacturing experience in a machine shop environment while possessing intimate solid understanding of manual machine methods (tool selection, speeds, feeds, HP.)
- Hands on experience running CNC Mills, Lathes, EDM, or Grinding equipment.
- Understanding the impact of programmed tool path, therefore proven experience machining parts from start to finish using manual turning and milling operations is highly desirable.
- Specific knowledge and experience in CAD/CAM technology and methodology specifically NX, Mastercam, Espirit, and Mazatrol.
- Experience working closely with shop floor personnel to solve issues (tooling, machines, etc.) as they arise.
