Primary Work Location:
Hybrid: This is a hybrid position based in the Bay Area. Team members in hybrid roles split their time between remote work and in-person collaboration. In-person work may take place at any of our Bay Area locations, depending on team needs, client services, or program priorities. Hybrid roles are designed to support flexibility while maintaining strong, mission-driven connections across teams and sites. The frequency of in-person work varies by week depending on the needs of our programs.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced IT Operations Support Lead with strong organizational and interpersonal skills to take full ownership of Cardea Health’s internal IT environment. This hands-on, senior-level role requires deep expertise in network administration, systems and device management, endpoint security, and multi-site end-user support. The ideal candidate is highly proactive, able to work independently, and comfortable managing technology across multiple east bay locations.
This role serves as the primary point of contact for all internal technology support needs, overseeing day-to-day IT operations, security tasks, system administration, and device lifecycle management. The IT Operations Support Lead works closely with the Chief of Staff on IT planning, account management, purchasing, and vendor coordination, while providing guidance and oversight to a part-time IT support staff member. This position is critical to ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient technology for all Cardea Health employees.
About the role:

Lead the evaluation of Cardea’s information systems and develop strategic recommendations for technology enhancements, modernization initiatives, and investments that drive organizational performance

Manage, mentor, and guide designated IT staff; assign priorities, monitor progress, and ensure successful completion of projects and initiatives

Ensure help desk requests are addressed promptly and effectively by coordinating with the IT team, monitoring response times, supporting staff in delivering timely assistance, and personally handling tickets when needed

Safeguard the security and compliance of Cardea’s information systems by implementing cybersecurity best practices, monitoring risks, and maintaining HIPAA and other regulatory standards for data, networks, and applications

Travel between Cardea sites across multiple East Bay locations to provide hands-on IT and software support, as well as infrastructure oversight

Plan, implement, and maintain technology infrastructure programs that ensure reliable operations, align with organizational goals, and support budget objectives

Oversee enterprise technology functions, including system upgrades, application management, network reliability, shared data resources, and lifecycle planning

Govern the policies, standards, and strategic direction for robust connectivity and network integration across local and wide area networks, including remote sites, to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable site to site communications

Act as a strategic technology advisor to Cardea staff and departments, facilitating effective system use and guiding adoption of new tools, processes, and best practices

Identify skill gaps, promote staff development, and implement targeted training programs to enhance system utilization, security awareness, and workforce capability

Analyze complex system challenges and organizational needs; prepare actionable reports and recommendations; collaborate across departments to support cross-functional initiatives

Oversee vendor relationships, contracts, and service agreements; coordinate external support and ensure vendors meet performance and quality expectations

Maintain accurate system documentation, technology asset records, and lifecycle management processes to ensure accountability, compliance, and informed decision-making
Minimum Required Skills & Qualifications:

4–6 years of level 3 IT support experience
-
Strong understanding of information system networks, LAN technologies, and protocols, including SSL, LDAP. TCP/IP, Layer 3 switches, and subnetting

Experience managing Microsoft 365, Intune, and Microsoft Entra
-
A high level of info security and Protected Health Information awareness

Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites

Familiarity with powershell and scripting for automation and integration
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

CompTIA Network , Security , CCNA, CCNP, ITIL, OSCP, CISSP, CPTS, Microsoft Certified

Prior IT management experience

Experience in healthcare IT (HIPAA compliance, patient management systems, multi-site clinical support)

Bachelor's degree in computer Networking, Information Technology, or related field
