We are representing a FORTUNE 500 globally recognized manufacturing organization actively seeking a Mechanical (Manufacturing) Engineer at their flagship West Michigan operation. Reporting directly to the Group Engineering Manager, this individual will play a key role on the plant floor, supporting capital projects, driving process improvements, and executing hands-on industrial engineering initiatives that directly impact throughput, efficiency, and cost.
This is a permanent, direct-hire opportunity with significant exposure to operations leadership and clear advancement runway.
POSITION OVERVIEW
- This candidate will work closely with Senior Leadership and will take part in the Company's prestigious "Leadership Development Program." These are "high impact/high visibility positions."
- Support day-to-day manufacturing operations by identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving process inefficiencies across a continuous-process environment
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on production, quality, and equipment-related issues using structured problem-solving methodologies (5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.)
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on increasing throughput, improving yield, reducing scrap, and optimizing overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
- Evaluate and improve plant layout, workflow, and labor utilization to enhance operational efficiency and reduce bottlenecks
- Assist in the execution of capital projects including equipment selection, installation, validation, and ramp-up
- Utilize statistical methods (SPC, data trending, process capability analysis) to monitor performance, identify variation, and support data-driven decision making
- Support cross-functional teams (Operations, Maintenance, Quality) to implement corrective actions and sustain process improvements
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
- Strong foundation in manufacturing principles, process improvement, and hands-on problem solving
- Exposure to industrial or plant environments through internships, co-ops, or prior experience strongly preferred
- Familiarity with statistical analysis tools (SPC, Minitab, etc.) and structured problem-solving techniques
Salary : $90,000 - $105,000
