Since 1966, the Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) has been dedicated to providing innovative, high-quality, and cost-effective educational programs and services to meet the diverse needs of children and adults in Greater Hartford. Serving 33 member districts and reaching additional communities statewide, CREC supports approximately 12,000 students annually through more than 120 educational programs. Our offerings include professional learning and coaching for educators, specialized programming for students with diverse needs, and PreK-12 education across 16 interdistrict magnet schools. Additionally, CREC provides school construction, operations, and cooperative business services, while also delivering programs that help adults build real, job-ready skills.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the CT Home Visit Hub Coordinator, the part-time trainer is expected to provide training and technical assistance around conducting relational home visits to individuals and school districts throughout the State of Connecticut who are involved in the Learner Engagement and Attendance Program (LEAP). Training may include individuals from school districts outside of Connecticut.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties/Responsibilities
Provides training in conducting relational home visits by designing and presenting workshops for school districts across CT.
Provides technical assistance and content expertise for staff development within CT school districts.
Helps improve relationships between families and schools by recommending strategies for improving training materials.
Participates in meetings, conferences, program training, and discussion groups.
Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
COMPETENCIES:
Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal skills; the ability to effectively interact and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
Must have working knowledge of and direct experience initiating relational meetings with families in local school systems.
Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of barriers to family engagement and experience in overcoming those barriers.
Requires skills in group facilitation, interpersonal sensitivity, presentation, and writing.
Commitment to learn, understand deeply, and evaluate information independently.
Capacity to collaborate with internal colleagues and external stakeholders
Familiarity with Zoom, Google Slides, and MS-Office suite of products.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university (education or related field) and two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide transportation to job sites, meetings, trainings, and professional learning opportunities as required.
