Cape Fear Family Law is hiring a Junior Associate Attorney to join our Wilmington, North Carolina team.
We are looking for an attorney with one to two years of legal experience who is organized, curious, client-focused, and ready to grow. Prior family law experience is not required. What matters most is your willingness to learn, your confidence in the courtroom, and your desire to help families through some of life’s most challenging moments.
What You’ll Do
• Conduct initial consultations with prospective clients
• Represent clients in family law matters
• Conduct legal research, investigate facts, and develop case strategies
• Draft pleadings, motions, correspondence, and other legal documents
• Attend hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials
• Communicate with clients clearly, compassionately, and professionally
• Work closely with experienced attorneys and support staff
• Develop the skills needed to independently manage your own caseload
What We’re Looking For
• One to two years of experience in a law firm or other legal setting
• Licensed and in good standing with the North Carolina State Bar
• Strong organizational, research, writing, and communication skills
• A natural fact-finder who pays close attention to detail
• Comfortable advocating for clients and willing to litigate
• Excited to learn family law and build a meaningful legal career
• Passionate about delivering an excellent client experience
Training and Development
You will not be expected to figure everything out on your own.
Cape Fear Family Law provides extensive in-house training designed to guide you through family law, litigation, case management, initial consultations, client communication, and our firm’s practices. Depending on your experience and development, training typically lasts between six months and one year.
Work Environment
This position will begin primarily in the Wilmington office and in court. Once you are prepared to manage your own cases, the position will transition into a hybrid work arrangement.
Compensation
$78,000–$88,000 annually, depending on experience.
