Summary: The Senior Quality Inspector – Soft Goods & Composites is responsible for ensuring all textile-based and composite-backed aerospace assemblies meet engineering, customer, and regulatory requirements from in-process through final release.
This role owns inspection and quality enforcement for soft goods including thermal insulation blankets, sewn assemblies, thermal barriers, protective covers, and composite-backed fabric systems. The position ensures product integrity through detailed verification of workmanship, dimensional accuracy, material traceability, and full compliance to drawings, specifications, and customer flow-downs.
You will operate as a senior quality presence embedded on the production floor, working alongside manufacturing and quality engineering to drive issue resolution, enforce standards, and prevent escapes.
\n- Execute in-process and final inspections for aerospace soft goods and composite-backed textile assemblies
- Verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and customer flow-down requirements
- Generate and process Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) and support MRB activities and dispositions
- Partner with Quality Engineering on root cause analysis, corrective actions, and containment
- Drive preventive actions to reduce repeat defects and rework
- Review travelers, inspection plans, and quality documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance to AS9100 requirements
- Maintain accurate inspection records and full product traceability within ERP/QMS systems
- Act as the quality authority on the floor, reinforcing standards and holding production accountable
- Stitching quality and seam integrity
- Edge finishing and fabric handling
- Hardware installation and bonding
- Labeling and configuration accuracy
- Confirm dimensional requirements, material types, thread specifications, and special process compliance
Identify and document defects including:
- Fabric damage or contamination
- Foreign object debris (FOD)
- Improper assembly or workmanship issues
- Cosmetic and structural nonconformities
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Direct experience inspecting or building aerospace soft goods, sewn assemblies, insulation blankets, or technical textile products.
- Strong understanding of textile workmanship criteria for aerospace applications.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, revisions, tolerances, and specification requirements.
- Working knowledge of NCR processes, MRB workflows, and corrective action practices.
- Ability to support root cause analysis and collaborate with engineering and production teams.
- Experience entering and maintaining records in ERP/QMS systems.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or space manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Experience reviewing special process documentation, certifications, and configuration control records.
- Familiarity with JobBOSS or Epicor ERP systems.
- Experience supporting internal or external audits.
- Exposure to FOD prevention practices in textile assembly environments.
- Willingness to work overtime or weekends to meet critical deadlines.
- Ability to use computers and inspection software to complete assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and teams in person and electronically.
- Commitment to maintaining safety and cleanliness within the inspection environment.

Schedule: 1st Shift 6:00am – 2:30pm M-F; Overtime is available; Rotating Weekend Coverage
Base Salary Range: $31 - $36 per hour (Based on Experience)
Base Location: Ontario, CA
Travel: Less than 5%- May be asked to support our Cape Canaveral FL location
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
