Description
Cannonball Recruiting is seeking an experienced Class A CDL Truck Driver for a growing steel fabrication company in Virginia.
This is an excellent opportunity for a safety-focused driver who enjoys a combination of driving, material handling, and working in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have experience operating flatbed trailers, securing loads, and delivering materials safely and efficiently to customer and construction sites.
Experience
- Valid Class A CDL required
- 5 years of commercial truck driving experience preferred
- Experience operating flatbed trailers preferred
- Experience delivering materials to construction sites is a plus
- Experience hauling steel, oversized, or stretch loads is beneficial
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety requirements
- Knowledge of load securement using chains, binders, and straps
- Ability to work independently and manage delivery schedules
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class A CDL vehicles, including tractor-trailers and flatbed trailers
- Deliver materials and equipment to customer locations and jobsites
- Secure loads using chains, binders, and straps in accordance with safety regulations
- Load and unload materials using forklifts, cranes, and manual handling when required
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Maintain driver logs, inspection reports, and other required documentation
- Coordinate deliveries and pickups with shipping, receiving, and dispatch personnel
- Report vehicle issues, accidents, or safety concerns promptly
- Maintain clean and organized vehicles and equipment
- Assist with warehouse or yard duties when deliveries are not required
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safety policies
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL License
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Strong understanding of DOT compliance and safety procedures
- Ability to work overtime and occasional Saturdays as needed
- Ability to travel and stay overnight when required
- Ability to lift, move, and handle materials safely
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound safety decisions
