Position Summary
The Store Manager is responsible for the overall daily operation, profitability, compliance, and leadership of the dispensary. This role ensures exceptional customer service, full compliance with Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA) regulations, effective inventory management, and development of a high-performing team. The Store Manager leads by example, creating a professional, welcoming, and compliant environment while achieving sales and operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop dispensary employees.
- Create and manage employee schedules to ensure proper staffing coverage.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching.
- Foster a positive, professional, and accountable workplace culture.
- Lead daily team meetings and communicate company expectations.
- Resolve employee concerns professionally and promptly.
Customer Experience
- Ensure every customer receives outstanding service.
- Handle customer concerns and resolve escalated issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming retail environment.
- Promote product knowledge and responsible cannabis education.
Compliance & Security
- Maintain full compliance with all Michigan CRA regulations.
- Ensure all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed.
- Verify age and identification requirements are consistently enforced.
- Oversee METRC inventory compliance and investigate discrepancies.
- Ensure all required compliance logs are completed accurately.
- Monitor security systems and respond appropriately to incidents.
- Maintain readiness for CRA inspections at all times.
Inventory Management
- Oversee inventory accuracy and reconciliation.
- Coordinate product receiving and vendor deliveries.
- Ensure products are properly labeled and displayed.
- Monitor product expiration dates and quality standards.
- Manage vault organization and inventory counts.
- Investigate inventory variances and implement corrective actions.
Sales & Business Performance
- Achieve sales and profitability goals.
- Monitor labor costs and scheduling efficiency.
- Analyze daily sales reports and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Implement promotions and merchandising strategies.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and revenue.
Cash Management
- Oversee opening and closing cash procedures.
- Ensure accurate drawer counts and cash reconciliation.
- Review deposits and maintain financial accountability.
- Investigate cash shortages or overages.
Store Operations
- Ensure the dispensary is clean, organized, and fully operational.
- Maintain vendor relationships and coordinate product orders.
- Oversee maintenance requests and facility needs.
- Ensure all equipment and technology remain operational.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of retail management experience (cannabis preferred).
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Working knowledge of Michigan cannabis regulations and METRC preferred.
- Experience with point-of-sale systems (Dutchie experience preferred).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must meet all Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency employment requirements.
