Golf Course Starter/Marshall

Position Summary

Canebrake Country Club is seeking a friendly, professional, and customer-focused Starter/Course Marshal to help ensure an enjoyable golfing experience for all members and guests. This position plays a vital role in maintaining pace of play, assisting golfers, enforcing course policies, and providing exceptional customer service throughout the golf course.

Key Responsibilities

Starter Duties

· Greet members and guests before their round.

· Verify tee times and ensure groups start on schedule.

· Communicate daily course conditions, local rules, and special instructions.

· Coordinate with the golf shop staff regarding tee sheet management.

· Ensure players are properly checked in before starting their round.

· Maintain an organized and efficient first tee operation.

Course Marshal Duties

· Monitor pace of play throughout the golf course.

· Politely assist groups in maintaining proper pace.

· Enforce club rules and course policies in a professional manner.

· Help manage player flow and reduce delays.

· Assist golfers with questions, directions, and course information.

· Monitor the condition of the course and report maintenance or safety concerns.

· Provide excellent customer service to members and guests at all times.

· Assist with tournament operations and special events as needed.

Qualifications

· Knowledge of golf and golf etiquette preferred.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Friendly, outgoing, and professional demeanor.

· Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.

· Reliable, punctual, and customer-service oriented.

· Ability to drive a golf cart safely.

· Weekend and holiday availability preferred.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to spend extended periods outdoors in varying weather conditions.

· Ability to drive a golf cart for several hours per shift.

· Ability to walk, stand, and perform light physical duties as needed.
