Job Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and executing all day-to-day functions of the hotel's operating departments, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Laundry, complimentary Food & Beverage, and Maintenance oversight. This position is critical in ensuring superior guest satisfaction and quality service while meeting or exceeding financial goals.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Quality
- Manage the daily operations of the Front Office, Housekeeping, and Laundry departments.
- Implement and manage company/franchise programs, ensuring strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety regulations, and all federal, state, and local laws.
- Drive continuous improvement in guest satisfaction scores (e.g., Problem Solving scores).
- Resolve customer complaints in a professional manner to maintain a high level of guest satisfaction.
- Oversee Maintenance/Sanitation for both the front and back of the house to protect assets and ensure quality service. This includes working on structure and accountability for the maintenance team and addressing out-of-order rooms.
- Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) on a rotating basis, providing property-wide leadership coverage.
Team & Staffing Management
- Manage Human Resources functions, including attracting, hiring, training, developing, empowering, coaching, counseling, and conducting performance reviews.
- Prepare and manage daily/weekly staffing schedules for the Front Desk and Housekeeping departments, ensuring proper coverage and control over labor costs and hours.
- Actively hold staff accountable for performance and attendance.
- Ensure all departments are performing their jobs correctly and efficiently.
- Ensure employee adherence to the professional dress code policy.
Financial & Administrative Duties
- Assist the General Manager and Regional Manager in developing, recommending, implementing, and managing the group's annual budget, business/marketing plan, forecasts, and objectives.
- Monitor and manage labor costs and other expenses to remain within budget.
- Oversee cash handling, shift audits, and front desk financial accountability.
- Assume the responsibilities of the General Manager in their absence.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High School Diploma/Secondary qualification or equivalent required; a 2-year or 4-year degree in Hotel/Hospitality/Business Management is preferred.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of progressive hotel operations management experience.
- Experience with IHG processes and standards is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to study, analyze, and interpret complex information to develop new operational approaches.
- Highly developed communication skills (speech and written) to interact effectively with managers, guests, and employees.
- Ability to work with financial information, basic arithmetic functions, and strong literacy skills for reports and policies.
- Proficiency in hotel Property Management Systems HotelKey).
Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
