Job Description:
We are seeking enthusiastic Camp Counselors to join our team for an exciting summer camp experience at an overnight camp for girls and boys, ages 10-16, in Boone, North Carolina. As a Camp Counselor, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and engaging environment for campers to learn, grow, and have fun.
Counselors must be able to relocate to Camp Gray Rock for the duration of their summer camp sessions: Girls June 20 - July 18, Boys July 18 - August 1.
Lodging is provided and includes certified kitchen staff providing three meals each day. Staff are paid weekly and have transition time without campers Saturday afternoons through Sunday mornings.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and engage campers in a variety of daily activities and games, as scheduled in partnership with the Director
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers at all times
- Teach and lead campers in various recreational and educational programs
- Supervise/Assist with meal times, cabin clean-up, and other daily camp routines
- Provide guidance and support to campers, promoting well-being and personal development
- Collaborate with fellow counselors and camp leadership to plan and execute daily activities
Experience Needed/Preferred:
- Current employment in education, child development or Education major
- Experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting
- Previous experience in education, teaching, or administration
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse group of children and teammates/staff
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, campers, and parents to create a positive environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in planning activities and managing schedules.
- A passion for education and youth development
- Strong swimming skills
Preferred Certifications:
- CPR/First aid certification
- Lifeguard certification(includes stipend for extra responsibility)
