Overview
Join our team at Camp Gray Rock this summer! In this role, you will assist in meal preparation, food service, and maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness. Your approach and attention to detail will contribute to creating a welcoming, nourishing environment for our campers and staff. this position allows for two staff to manage the full day of three meal or to divide the day with some overlap. We are an overnight summer camp serving around 35-40 weekly headcount of kids and counselors three meals a day, cafeteria style. Meal schedule is usually Sunday dinner through Friday dinner. Check in/out is Saturday and Sunday and usually no formal meals are served, allowing for time off on Saturday and most of Sunday.
Room and board available for one full time hire.
Position flexible between one full time hire or two people to split the the meal services.
Salary dependent on how the positions and responsibilities are divided.
Camp session runs June 21-July 31, 6 weeks(Sunday dinner-Friday dinner). Employee must be available on June 20 for orientation and kitchen tour.
Responsibilities
- Assist with meal planning and preparation, ensuring menus meet dietary guidelines
- Serve meals with professionalism, friendliness, and efficiency, fostering a positive dining experience
- Handle food safely by following proper food handling procedures, sanitation standards, and safety protocols
- Support kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, meals, and maintaining cleanliness
- Collaborate with Camp Director to ensure timely delivery of meals and accommodate special dietary needs
- Maintain accurate documentation related to food safety practices and meal service records, I coursing weekly inventory and food order
- Contribute to a hygienic environment by cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils, and dining areas regularly
Experience
- Previous experience in food service, preferably in a school or cafeteria setting
- Familiarity with menu planning and meal assembly in a school or cafeteria style setting
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper handling techniques is essential
- Experience with kitchen operations, commercial equipment.
- Preferred experience with inventory and food orders with a commercial vendor like Sysco.
