SUMMARY: The Warehouse Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating daily shipping and warehouse operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant outbound shipments. This role prioritizes shipping schedules, determines appropriate routing and load configurations, and oversees loading activities to meet company standards and legal requirements. The Warehouse Lead provides clear direction to team members, resolves shipping errors and customer complaints, and supports continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, safety, and productivity. Flexibility for overtime, cross-training, and special projects is essential to support changing operational needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In addition to those listed in the Summary section above, the following are duties necessary to meet the minimum requirements of the position. Other duties may be assigned:
- Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules.
- Oversees outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of shipments.
- Determines space requirements and position of shipment in boxcars and trucks and lays out position of shipment.
- Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states.
- Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
- Enters shipment transactions into computer.
- Issues written and oral instructions.
- Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
- Adjusts errors and complaints.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Availability for daily/weekly overtime.
- Cross-train in other positions within the facility based on business needs.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High School diploma (minimum) Trade School preferred.
- Minimum Years of Experience: 5 years of warehouse experience. 2 years of leadership/supervisor experience.
- Ability to operate a forklift machine.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Communication skills for dealing with customers and brokers.
- Proven experience as order picker or another warehouse position.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in computer systems including Microsoft Suite.
- Knowledge of inventory management systems (barcode, AS400 program).
- Knowledge of Transportation Management Systems.
- Excellent organization and efficient time management skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
