Job Summary
We are seeking a Landscape Construction Manager to lead field operations for our high-end residential projects. This role oversees schedules, quality, safety, and profitability while supporting Project Managers, the Estimator, and Foremen. The Construction Manager ensures seamless coordination between the Design, Estimating, and Construction teams from project handoff through completion.
This is both a leadership and execution role—ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, design-build environment where attention to detail, foresight, and clear communication are essential.
Core Responsibilities
Division Oversight & Leadership
- Lead the construction division, overseeing multiple high-end residential projects from planning through closeout.
- Manage and develop Project Managers, the Estimator, and Foremen to ensure accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Maintain short- and long-term construction schedules, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and high-quality delivery.
- Partner with the Director of Operations on resource planning, staffing, and division growth.
- Drive continuous improvement through training, process refinement, and technology adoption.
Estimating & Contracts
- Collaborate with the Design and Estimating teams to prepare detailed, accurate project estimates, scopes, and contracts.
- Review takeoffs, budgets, and subcontractor pricing to ensure profitability and consistency with company standards.
- Manage client approvals and change orders to maintain financial accuracy and transparency.
Project & Field Management
- Oversee weekly and monthly project schedules, supporting Project Managers in meeting milestones and resolving bottlenecks.
- Allocate crews, equipment, and subcontractors efficiently to maintain productivity and quality.
- Conduct site walks, review progress, and ensure compliance with safety, design intent, and specifications.
- Monitor permitting, inspections, and project closeout to ensure timely completion.
People, Safety & Quality
- Mentor Project Managers and Foremen to strengthen field leadership and communication.
- Ensure project safety plans are developed, implemented, and compliant with all company and regulatory standards.
- Reinforce a positive, professional culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Cross-Department Coordination & Client Support
- Collaborate with Design, Estimating, and Maintenance teams for seamless project transitions.
- Support Project Managers as client-facing leads, providing backup when needed for meetings or on-site challenges.
- Provide technical guidance on constructability, value engineering, and design alignment.
Requirements
- 8 years of progressive leadership experience in landscape construction or related field.
- Proven ability to interpret landscape architectural plans, grading, and technical drawings.
- Expertise in scheduling, crew/equipment logistics, estimating, and subcontractor coordination.
- Strong understanding of cost control, contract management, and client communications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365, scheduling and CRM tools. basic QuickBooks or equivalent.
- Valid Washington State driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to work on active job sites and perform physical duties as needed (lifting up to 50 lbs).
Preferred but not Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience with Pacific Northwest landscapes, irrigation systems, hardscapes, and permitting processes.
- Basic QuickBooks or equivalent financial software knowledge.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar project management tools.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Working Conditions
Active outdoor job sites in varying weather conditions, with regular local travel between project locations. Office work includes scheduling, coordination with estimating and design teams, and progress reporting.
