Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) care to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients across a variety of medical conditions, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through expert assessment, intervention, and education. Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed health histories to inform individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions, with strict adherence to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Monitor patients' physiological responses, manage acute pain, and utilize advanced skills such as ventilator management and tube feeding.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations, including specimen collection, laboratory testing, and interpretation of results to support clinical decision-making.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and coordination of services such as dialysis or hospice care.
- Maintain meticulous medical documentation within EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide patient education on treatment plans, medication administration, and health coaching tailored to diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, or individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Assist with procedures requiring specialized skills such as suturing, catheterization (urinary or vascular), or ostomy care.
- Participate in infection control practices and uphold standards aligned with NCQA guidelines for quality assurance.
- Support triage activities in urgent care or emergency settings by prioritizing patient needs based on acuity levels.
Requirements
- Valid RN license in the relevant state or jurisdiction; current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- Minimum of two years of clinical experience in medical-surgical units; experience in critical care settings such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic and Cerner; familiarity with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding is preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing complex cases involving acute pain management, infectious disease care, trauma medicine, or post-acute care environments.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology necessary for comprehensive patient assessments.
- Experience working with diverse populations including long-term care residents, assisted living residents, or patients requiring hospice & palliative medicine services.
- Ability to perform advanced procedures such as IV insertion, phlebotomy, laboratory specimen processing, and sterile technique practices.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams and patient education.
- Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law relevant to occupational health cases is advantageous.
- Additional certifications such as ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), or specialized training in dermal fillers or esthetic laser treatments are a plus.
