Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Polysomnographer/Sleep Technician to join our sleep medicine team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for conducting sleep studies, monitoring patients during sleep, and collecting comprehensive data to assist in diagnosing sleep disorders. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of sleep physiology, respiratory therapy, and medical terminology, ensuring accurate assessment and patient safety throughout the process. Duties
- Prepare patients for sleep studies by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort
- Set up and calibrate polysomnography equipment, including sensors and monitors
- Monitor patients during sleep, recording vital signs, brain activity, eye movements, muscle activity, and respiratory patterns
- Conduct physical examinations as needed to assess patient suitability for sleep studies
- Analyze collected data to identify abnormal sleep patterns or disturbances
- Maintain detailed documentation of each study, including observations and technical issues
- Collaborate with physicians to interpret results and support diagnostic evaluations
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and infection control standards within the sleep center
- Educate patients on sleep hygiene practices and post-study instructions
- Stay current with advancements in sleep medicine, physiology knowledge, and diagnostic techniques
Requirements
- Certification as a Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or equivalent credential Required
- Prior experience working in a sleep center or conducting sleep studies
- Knowledge of respiratory therapy principles and physiology related to sleep disorders
- Familiarity with medical terminology, vital signs measurement, and physical examination procedures
- Strong understanding of anatomy relevant to respiratory and neurological functions
- Proficiency in using polysomnography equipment and software systems
- Excellent communication skills for patient interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Ability to interpret physiological data accurately for diagnostic purposes
Pay: $1,500.00 - $1,750.00 per week
