    Reports to: Manager of Student Services & Early Learning

    Purpose: Provide childcare services to pre-school through elementary age children to include coordinating and supervising activities as well as indoor and outdoor play.

    Essential Functions:

    1. Supervise groups of children before and/or after school ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
    2. Coordinate and supervise educational and / or art activities to engage children.
    3. Assist with snack preparations and serving children.
    4. Assist children with their physical needs if required.
    5. Understand and adhere to program rules regarding children's expectations and behavior.
    6. Report any issues or incidents to the lead childcare paraprofessional, childcare coordinator, or director as needed.
    7. Support and guide children with a positive attitude.
    8. Provide first aid as needed.
    9. Track and supervise the use of playground equipment.
    10. Other related duties to ensure the safe operations of the program and school district.

    7. Dependability: Regular reliable attendance, follows direction, and solicits feedback.

    Professional Qualifications:

    1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
    2. Experience working with children, preferably in an educational environment.
    3. Basic knowledge and use of computer to include MS Office software.
    4. Acquire and maintain first aid CPR certification.
    5. Must have proof of MMR vaccination.

    Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

    1. Stand for long periods of time.
    2. Stoop, bend, walk, run.
    3. Work in noisy environments.
    4. Physically assist students.
    5. Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

    Work Environment:
    The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 50% walking, and 40% standing. The job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

    Benefits:

    School Employee Benefit Board (SEBB) Eligibility determination: All eligibility determinations are based on rules in Chapters 182-30 and 182-31 of the Washington Administrative Code (WAC). If the position is anticipated to work a minimum of 630 hours in a school year, then that position would be deemed benefit eligible. SEBB benefits include medical, vision, dental, long-term disability and life insurance. Supplemental coverages are also available.

    Retirement Eligibility determination: A certificated position participates in the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) which requires at least 5 months of 70 or more hours of compensated employment during a school year to be eligible for Washington State Retirement. A classified position participates in the School Employee Retirement System (SERS) if the position is expected to require at least 5 months of 70 hours or more for two consecutive years (initially) of employment.
