Job Description:
Dino-mite Crushing is looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator to join the team based in Detroit, MI. If you are looking for consistent hours, overtime and year-round work, this opportunity may be the right fit for you.
Safely operate various equipment including excavator, front loader, bulldozer, or other heavy equipment and/or steer equipment to move and load soil, rock and other materials into company and customer trailers.
Responsibilities include:
- Operate various heavy mobile equipment such as front-end loaders, dozers, excavators, etc
- Operator will steer, guide and or drive the above listed equipment at the assigned site using steering
wheel, shifters, levers, buttons, and pedals
- Load materials in designated areas
- Perform daily machine inspection before and after use, routine greasing, oiling, and fueling
- Comply with all safety regulations, policies, and record-keeping
- Practice and promote safety in such a way as including but not limited to; assessing risks before starting tasks, only performing authorized activities, utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Monitor any change in machine performance to identify potential malfunctions & report to the maintenance department
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience operating end loader, excavator, dozer, and other heavy construction equipment
- A team and safety-oriented mentality
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Knowledge of bulk materials
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Capable of working independently when needed
- Flexible to work extended hours, and weekends when required
- Able to promote a positive and safe work environment in a physically demanding work environment
- Must be willing to travel to other work sites
- Willingness to perform other duties as assigned
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Work in an outdoor environment inside heavy equipment covered cab, but exposed to all weather conditions, except lightning storms.
- Walk, bend, kneel, lift, stretch and sit
- Must remain alert to potential hazards associated with heavy equipment and other vehicles operated in work area
- Occasionally work in high precarious places.
- Ability to frequently bend, squat, kneel, twist, turn, climb, and crawl
- Ability to travel to other work locations is preferred
