What are the responsibilities and job description for the Night Shop Supervisor position at Calo and Sons Construction?
Job Purpose
- Supervise night mechanics
Schedule
- Sunday through Saturday morning 6:00 pm - 4:30 or 5:00 am
- 10 to 12 hour shifts
Job Duties
- Selects and assigns staff to shop jobs
- Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques
- Ensures Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations are followed for the safety of all employees
- Oversees the overhauling and rebuilding of trucks, tractors, pumps, cranes, and other standard or specialized gasoline, diesel, and manually operated firefighting machinery and equipment
- Diagnoses difficult problems, recommends repairs, and determines if service will be completed by subordinate staff or vendors
- Inspects, tests, and adjusts equipment
- Supervises and participates in the fabrication and construction of specialized tools and equipment
- Prepares cost and material estimates
- Performs any task assigned to subordinate staff, consistent with any licensing or certification requirements
- Work along side of other employees
- Communicate with Shop Supervisor, Ray Salla
Requirements
- Six years of previous diesel mechanic experience
- Excellent ability to supervise a team
- Excellent ability to instruct and mentor a team of diesel mechanics
- Ability to monitor and evaluate problems
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent computer skills
