Job Summary
The Direct Care Youth Support Worker is responsible for providing daily care, supervision, and support to youth residing in a Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP). This role is central to maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and structured living environment while assisting youth in developing life skills, emotional regulation, and positive behavioral habits.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide constant supervision and ensure the safety and well-being of youth ages 12-18.
· Implement trauma-informed care practices in all interactions with youth.
· Build healthy, supportive relationships with youth through mentorship, structure, and consistency.
· Assist with daily living activities, including hygiene, chores, meals, recreational activities, and educational support.
· Maintain and update resident clothing inventory & personal property records.
· Support and supervise youth during transportation to school, appointments, or off-site activities.
· Document incidents, behavior logs, and progress notes in compliance with licensing and agency requirements.
· Participate in the development and implementation of Individual Treatment Plans (ITPs).
· Facilitate or support therapeutic and skill-building groups as assigned.
· Collaborate with clinical staff, social workers, and other stakeholders involved in the youth’s care.
· Administer medication as trained and authorized (if applicable).
· Maintain compliance with Community Care Licensing (CCL) regulations and STRTP standards.
Qualifications
- Must have a CA DOJ/FBI Guardian background clearance, TB test, and pre-employment physical.
- Must be at least 21 years of age (in compliance with STRTP regulations).
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required); associate or bachelor’s degree in psychology, Social Work, or related field (Preferred).
- Must meet STRTP direct care staff qualifications as stated in CCR Title 22 and STRTP standards, such as:
- 2 years of full-time experience working with youth in a residential setting; OR
- Completion of 60 college units with at least 12 in behavioral science.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and clean driving record.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Strong communication and de-escalation skills.
- Ability to work in a high-stress, emotionally demanding environment with youth who may exhibit challenging behaviors.
Preferred Qualifications
· Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages).
· Familiarity with trauma-informed care, TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention), or NCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention).
Work Schedule
· Variable shifts (day, swing, overnight, weekends, holidays).
· Must be flexible and available for mandatory training and emergency coverage.

· Competitive hourly wage (non-exempt) based on experience and qualifications.
