The CA. Department of Social Services' Housing and Homelessness Division is recruiting for a Staff Services Manager I (SSM I).
The Housing and Homelessness Division (HHD) is currently a fully remote workplace. Periodic on-site work may be required for this position. The Staff Services Manager I (SSM I) supervises (3) professional staff and works with stakeholders to integrate social services with housing support services; share best practice and creative solutions to address homelessness; increase access to benefits and client- centered services; and ensure any instance of homelessness is rare, brief, and non-recurring. HMD is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of statewide policies and procedures related to CDSS programs pertaining to homeless prevention, housing support, and mitigation of homelessness.
The Budget Act of 2021 provided a significant and historic total of more than $2 billion for the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) to provide grant funds to counties, tribes, and other eligible entities to establish, continue, and expand housing and homelessness assistance programs to serve clients of local social service agencies with housing supports over the next two budget years. HHD is undergoing extraordinary growth and officially transitioned from a Branch to a Division on July 1st, 2022.

This position is eligible for a full-time telework schedule under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California but may require reporting in-person at headquarters in Sacramento upon request to support Division needs.
