The Center for Preparedness and Response (CPR) within the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is a critical center dedicated to safeguarding the health and well-being of Californians during public health emergencies. Job Description And Duties
The Analyst II in the Exercises and Evaluation Unit supports the California Department of Public Health’s emergency preparedness mission by coordinating and implementing statewide public health and medical response exercises. The Analyst II independently develops and evaluates drills, trainings, and After Action Reports to strengthen emergency plans, procedures, and response capabilities. This role leads data analysis and tracking of corrective actions, provides technical assistance to internal staff and local health jurisdictions, and supports the development of annual strategic exercise planning documents such as the Multi-Year Integrated Preparedness Plan. The Analyst II also designs and delivers in-person and virtual emergency preparedness trainings in collaboration with subject matter experts. Additional responsibilities include coordinating with federal, state, and local partners, participating in emergency response activities, and traveling as needed to support program goals.
In July 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This program temporarily reduces employees’ monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges shown on this job posting do not reflect the salary reduction.
