Job Description And Duties
Under the general direction of the Division of Law Enforcement (DLE), Assistant Chief, the Special Agent-in-Charge (SAC) is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the programs within the Professional Standards and Compliance Section, including: the Professional Standards Group (PSG), the Background Investigations Unit (BIU), Peer Support Program, and the Advanced Training Center (ATC). The incumbent will oversee sensitive and complex internal affairs investigations, criminal investigations, discrimination complaint allegations, sexual harassment allegations, and reports results to both division management and the Department’s Equal Employment Rights and Resolution Office. In addition, the incumbent will testify at State Personnel Board hearings. This position is also responsible for establishing policies and maintaining oversight of departmental employment background investigations and for ensuring compliance with current Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) background investigation requirements.
