JOB TITLE: Physician Office – LPN
DEPARTMENT: Caldwell Medical Associates
REPORTS TO: Clinic Operations Director
SUPERVISES: None
POSITION SUMMARY:
- Is accountable for the delivery of consistently high quality nursing care.
- Functions under the supervision of the Physician.
- Is accountable for the effective, efficient, and safe operations of the Clinic ensuring that the objectives of the Clinic and the organization are being met.
- Ensures appropriate organizational and patient safety practices are in use.
- Promotes good public relations through contacts with patients, practitioners, visitors, employees, peers, and the public at large.
- Maintains and ensures confidentiality of patient information.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures nursing related tasks are completed in a safe, competent, appropriate, and timely manner.
- Assists practitioner with examinations and/or treatments, and give instructions to patients as requested by the practitioner.
- Maintain cleanliness in examination rooms, and request supplies to maintain adequate stock.
- Take patient’s blood pressure, weight, pulse, temperature, and/or respiration, and completes patient history information during medical visit.
- Completes diagnostic requisition forms, and assist in scheduling of diagnostic test.
- Follow-up on lab reports and pathology reports.
- Scheduling of patient’s surgery at the Hospital.
- Prepare specimen(s) sent to Caldwell Medical Center Lab including labeling and completion of requisitions for testing following Standard Precautions.
- Demonstrates how to respond to a patient when he/she arrives at the Clinic.
- Documents the in-take interview.
- Use a provider-approved step-by-step screening tool to question the patient, and determine next course of action.
- Relay results of certain diagnostic tests to patients when indicated by the physician.
- Assists in maintaining established Clinic policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Assists in maintaining department reports and records, and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes as directed.
- Assists in implementing the Clinic specific goals and objectives in keeping with overall Clinic, and organizational goals and objectives.
- Assists in maintaining adequate and effective communication between the Clinic, and ancillary departments for the purpose of problem solving, and improved patient care processes.
- Interacts with others (on the phone or in person) in a positive, professional, and appropriate manner.
- Works cooperatively with others. Has respect for, and an understanding of the contributions of all team members.
- Ensures that appropriate LPN nursing standards and practices are met.
- Provides direct patient care and evaluates outcomes. Consults with others as required, and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care, and patient outcomes.
- Documents adequately and appropriately. Ensures that documentation reflects current patient status, changes in patient status, care and treatment planned.
- Assesses patient and family needs. Ensures adequate patient care based on patient needs by performing and/or appropriately delegating tasks as required.
- Acts as liaison between the Clinic, personnel, Medical Staff and other departments. Reports issues/complaints to Physician and Clinic Office Manager.
- Attends required meeting.
- Promotes professional staff development.
- Promotes a safe environment that allows for the delivery of high quality patient care.
- Protects patient confidentiality by promoting, and enforcing appropriate staff communication practices.
- Ensures practitioner orders are carried out using sound nursing judgment.

Qualifications:POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION
Graduate of approved LPN Program and licensed to practice in the State of Kentucky
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
Zero to six months of appropriate clinical/office experience
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
One or more years of appropriate clinical/office experience
