JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:                           Clinic Medical Assistant Supervisor

DEPARTMENT:                  Caldwell Medical Associates – Clinic Offices

REPORTS TO:                     Clinic Manager

SUPERVISES:                      Medical Assistants (MA)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Supervises MA clinic staff by assigning daily work, scheduling staff, and serving as liaison between Clinic Manager, Providers, and staff.        In addition, the Clinical Supervisor will work closely with Providers, Nursing staff, families, visitors and CMC Administration.

                                                                         POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Plans, coordinates and supervises the delivery of clinic MA services.
2. Ensures compliance with government regulations.
3. Hires and trains new staff.
4. Represents clinic in meetings as needed.
5. Works closely with providers and staff to deliver quality health care.
6.  Assigns work duties to all MA staff.
7. Creates MA schedules.
8. Approves staff time and attendance and minimizes overtime by management of staff.
9. Monitors appointment schedules for maximum use of providers time and ease of scheduling patient appointments.
10. Observes staff for productivity and efficiency.
11. Looks for and implements improvements in workflow processes.
12. Monitors supplies on hand and keeps minimum stock on hand.
13. Interacts with customers to look for new business opportunities and maximize services offered.
14. Completes employee evaluations.
15. Counsels and disciplines employees per company policy.
16. Resolves complex customer inquiries and staff complaints.
17. Assists with creating budget and managing expenditures.
18. Office coach and cheerleader for excellent customer service.
19. Sets the example everyday of going above and beyond what is required.
20. Performs other duties as assigned.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

1. Demonstrates understanding of the patient registration process.
2. Demonstrates understanding of the patient care functions required as a Certified Medical Assistant.
3. Demonstrates advanced computer knowledge of systems and applications related to specific duties of job title.
4. Demonstrates basic computer knowledge of systems and applications as related to all other staff.
5. Demonstrates effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
6. Successfully completes all required training and continuing education.
7. Demonstrates excellent Guest Service skills.
8. Clerical and analytical ability to be self-sufficient in performing assigned duties and maintaining confidential information.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EDUCATION
Certified Medical Assistant 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
1-2 years experience in the clinic setting. 

PREFERED EXPERIENCE
2-5 years working in the clinic setting.  Experience with Kentucky Immunization Program, drug screens, and clinic processes.
