Cost Project Control Specialist
Hybrid - Chattanooga, TN
1 year contract with possibility of extension
40 hours per week, Monday-Friday
Position Overview:
The Cost Project Control Specialist serves as a subject matter expert responsible for developing and implementing methods for performance monitoring, reporting, analysis, and trend assessment. This role supports the management of engineering and A/E contracts, cost control, and performance improvement across large-scale projects—preferably in the nuclear or construction sectors.
Location Details:
- Local candidates in Chattanooga, Knoxville, or surrounding East Tennessee areas are preferred, but the role is not limited to local applicants.
- Current in-office policy:
- Local candidates: Report to the office two days per week.
- Out-of-area candidates: Report to the office four days per month (typically during the second full week). Per diem is budgeted for travel.
- The remainder of the work can be performed remotely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement performance monitoring and reporting systems, including performance indicators, benchmarking, baselining, and trending.
- Coordinate and oversee engineering and A/E contracts, monitor expenditures, and assist with new contracts and amendments.
- Ensure process integrity and resolve outstanding requests, reconciling encumbrances and pending tasks with internal systems (IBS).
- Analyze cost data to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements; develop cost-benefit analyses and corrective action plans.
- Develop project budgets, reporting structures, and forecasts for performance versus business plan objectives.
- Support ADP system requirements and workload projections.
- Conduct special studies such as project forecasting, O&M projects, and cost control optimization (CCO).
- Serve as a subject matter expert providing technical direction and oversight to project teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or similar field
- Experience managing the cost portion of projects—preferably within the nuclear or construction industries.
- Strong analytical and budgeting skills with the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities across technical and administrative teams.
