Job Title: Portfolio Banker Associate (Private Banking)
Location: Chicago, IL
Work Model: Onsite 4 days/week
Contract: 6-month contract (extension potential)
Pay Range: $38–40/hour
Overview
This role provides critical right-hand support to Senior Private Bankers serving ultra-high-net-worth clients and managing those relationships. The Portfolio Banker Associate partners closely with Portfolio Bankers and Senior Bankers to support complex credit solutions, manage client portfolios, and deliver highly responsive, white-glove service with exceptional discretion.
Team & Environment

- Team focuses on complex deal structuring, credit execution, and long-term relationship management for UHNW clients.
- Fast-paced, high-touch environment requiring confidentiality, executive presence, and strong stakeholder coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Credit & Portfolio Support
- Support Senior and Portfolio Bankers with pipeline and deal management.
- Gather, review, and organize loan and credit documentation.
- Assist with structuring complex credit facilities and coordinating deal execution.
- Monitor portfolios and support internal warning and risk-monitoring processes.
- Collect and maintain ongoing financial statements and client documentation.
- Coordinate with outside counsel and internal risk, credit, and operations teams to close transactions.
Client Servicing & Relationship Support
- Support account opening, onboarding, and transition to ongoing relationship management.
- Handle day-to-day servicing requests, including money movement and wire activity.
- Provide ongoing portfolio and administrative support for UHNW client relationships.
- Assist with maintaining high service standards and timely responsiveness to client needs.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with internal administrative, credit, legal, and operations teams.
- Navigate internal processes to move deals forward efficiently and accurately.
- Ensure documentation, approvals, and processes align with bank policies and risk requirements.
Required Qualifications (Must Haves)
- Strong loan documentation experience (target backgrounds: private banking, premier banking, mass affluent, commercial banking, UHNW, or family office).
- Solid understanding of credit facilities and credit agreements.
- Excellent executive presence with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage highly confidential and sensitive client relationships.
- Proven ability to coordinate across internal stakeholders and support deal execution.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Haves)
- 4–10 years of private banking, relationship management, or portfolio support experience.
- Experience supporting affluent, HNW, or UHNW clients.
- Strong lending knowledge (mortgage, securities-backed lending, custom credit, deposits).
- Experience working with attorneys, CPAs, or family offices.
- Large loan structuring exposure
- CFP, CFA, MBA, or equivalent credentials.

- Must meet applicable licensing and regulatory requirements (including SAFE Act / NMLS registration if applicable).
- Strong risk awareness and adherence to compliance, privacy, and documentation standards.
